Renovator’s Dream
I’ve been wanting an old bike to convert to a fixie for getting around the neighbourhood on, and just scored this old Spokesman at the local markets for $65. It’s running Dia Compe brakes, Sugino cranks, Shimano Altus gears, and a Dynapower lighting system.
The front hub is loose (despite its QR being somehow frozen solid closed - in the open position), the headset is very loose, the wheels need truing, and God knows what else.
Fun times ahead! Haven’t had a project bike since I was 16!
Recently visited Japan for the first time. While at the Kiyomizudera shrine in Kyoto I came across this seriously steep and snaking cobbled climb. Wish I had my bike! The shrine and its gardens, in the eastern hills of Kyoto, are awe inspiringly beautiful.
Deciding to ride your bike without a helmet is a beacon of hope for those in need of new organs
